Rules of Competition Two works are to be presented, with a strong contrast in period, mood and style.
An advanced standard of performance is required (8th grade or higher).
Total performance time should not exceed 12 minutes.
Pianists and other instrumentalists should be 18 years or under on the date of the competition
There is no age restriction for singers.
Pianists and singers must perform from memory. For instrumentalists, memory is encouraged but optional.
No previous winner of a Roger Woodward award of $300 or over may enter again.
Those currently holding music scholarships of $5000 or more are ineligible.
If the adjudicators feel that the standard of entry is not high enough, then they may withhold an award.
All decisions of the adjudicators are final.
Preliminary Audition
Entrants will audition in their own area, where 3 entrants will be chosen to proceed to the finals. There is an entry fee of $10.00 which will be paid at the time of this audition.
The United Music Teachers Awards Awards Up to five successful performers are each awarded a United Music Teachers Award certificate together with a cheque for $60. In addition, there is a special Musicianship award of $60 for the most musical performance.
Rules of Competition
There is no entry fee for this award..
Pianists and other instrumentalists should be 14 years or under at the time of the competition
Singers should be 21 years or under.
Each performer or group of performers should perform one or two works with a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 6 minutes of performance time. Please do not perform repeats (but da capo returns are obligatory).
Winners of UMT Awards from previous years may not compete again.
The UMT Presidents Award This is an award of $300 for pianists and other instrumentalists aged 18 and over.
Rules of Competition Holders of scholarships worth $5000 or more are ineligible.
Entrants are required to perform 2 contrasting works with a minimum of 6 minutes and a maximum of 12 minutes of performance time.
